Barbecue 2023

Summer 2023 commenced with a wonderful barbecue at the beginning of July, attended by many lodge members and friends. The barbecue was hosted by new Worshipful Master W.Bro. Rick Comber and his wife Abi at their home and garden in Camberley. Rick excelled by cooking a sumptuous range of food on six barbecues simultaneously without getting flustered or making a mistake. What an expert!

With that number of barbecues working at full pace, everyone was treated to a delicious meal followed by equally delicious desserts prepared by wife Abi. What’s more, the weather held fair and warm so that guests could enjoy the lovely garden, as well as the barbecue.

The event was held to raise funds for the Worshipful Master’s Charity MAN-UP which helps men with depression, suicidal thoughts, and mental health issues through a network of volunteers. A raffle in aid of the charity raised the fantastic sum of £500. A great start to the Worshipful Master’s year, to be followed by several more attractive social events, including a Thames River Boat Cruise, several dinners, and culminating in a Ladies’ Festival event at Camberley Cricket Club.
